Eid event

Assalaamualaikum everybody,

Yesterday I went to this really cool Eid event in my local area Ilford (go Ilford!). It was an Eid event that was organised by MPACUK .

It was really good because they had some really good speakers, but Shaykh Haytham Tamim had to cancel due to an emergency (insha'allah it wasn't anything too serious). The other speakers included Imam Yazdani who is the Imam of a mosque in Brent. Also, Zulfiqar Bukhari, the CEO of MPACUK, gave a speech aswell.

The talk was about how we are so lucky as Muslims in the West that we can celebrate Eid in peace, but we should never forget our brothers and sisters around the world, and I was bought to tears on more than one occasion. Oh, and the free food was good, really good. Did I mention that the food was free?

Overall I give the event 10/10 because I met some really cool people, heard some great talks and had some great free food.

Have there been any Eid events in your local area? How did they go? I would love to hear from all of you.

Remember to keep it halal my brothers and sisters.

The time I ran out of the mosque and got married

Assalaamualaikum,

2 weeks ago I was praying in my local mosque, and I was RIGHT at the front of the mosque in the front row. When we finished the 4 fard somebody made an announcement: "Kareem Abdullah your wife is ill, please go to see her straightaway" ... Now firstly I thought they said mum instead of wife (in urdu), and my name is Abdullah Kareem - so I just started running out of the mosque like mad.

My dad knew that I was going to run out, so he ran out aswell to stop me running all the way home. When he caught up with me he told me that I misheard the announcement, so I went back to the mosque, but had to pray near the back cos now my place was gone.

The next day after Zuhr, the Imam sees me and asks me "Beta, how is your vife? is everything theek taak (ok) ?" So I told him how I misheard him, but everyone else was also listening and they all started laughing at me.

Yeah, I was pretty embarassed, but hey, good times.
